Sparkling Pink Himalayan Salt Electrolyte Drink

Recipe by Molina

A perfectly balanced, fizzy hydration drink that combines pink Himalayan salt for sodium, lemon for potassium, and a touch of magnesium. The key technique of pre-dissolving minerals ensures the sparkling bubbles last from the first sip to the last.

  • Total Time5min
  • Yield1 serving 1x
  • DietGluten Free, Vegan Optional

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (355 ml) chilled plain sparkling water or seltzer
  • 1/8 tsp fine pink Himalayan salt (about 300mg sodium)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice (or 1/8 tsp potassium chloride salt)
  • 1 tiny pinch (about 1/32 tsp) food-grade magnesium citrate powder (optional)
  • 1-2 tbsp fresh citrus juice (lemon, lime, or orange) for flavor
  • 3-4 slices cucumber, ginger, or fresh berries (optional, for muddling)
  • 1 tsp raw honey, maple syrup, or 5-10 drops liquid stevia (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill the sparkling water and your serving glass. Cold temperatures help preserve carbonation.
  2. In a small glass or bowl, combine the pink Himalayan salt, lemon juice (or potassium chloride), and optional magnesium powder with 1 oz of warm, still water. Stir until all crystals are fully dissolved.
  3. Pour the chilled sparkling water into your serving glass.
  4. Slowly pour the dissolved mineral solution down the side of the glass to minimize bubble loss.
  5. Add the additional citrus juice and any optional muddled fruit or herbs. If using a sweetener, add it now.
  6. Gently stir once with a long spoon, lifting from the bottom. Add ice if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

For a master concentrate, dissolve 1/4 cup pink Himalayan salt and 1/4 cup potassium chloride in 1 cup warm water. Store in fridge for up to 1 month. Use 1 tsp concentrate per drink. Do not pre-mix with sparkling water for storage, as the fizz will be lost.
